Streaks app alternatives: 5 habit trackers compared

By Coachh Editorial TeamUpdated 8 min read

The best Streaks app alternatives are Gentler Streak for workout streaks that count rest days, Apple’s free Activity rings (which you can pause), Habitify for habits across devices, Loop Habit Tracker for a free Android option, and Coachh for streaks tied to a full training and food plan. For a simple $5.99 habit list, Streaks is excellent.

Coachh, the app we make, is one of the options below. We’ve tried to keep this page fair: where the Streaks app or another option is the better pick, we say so. Facts and prices were checked on each company’s own site or App Store listing on October 5, 2026. Prices are US and can change.

A quick note on the name: “Streaks” here means the habit-tracker app by Crunchy Bagel, not streaks in general.

What does the Streaks app do well?

The Streaks app makes a habit list feel like a game you want to keep winning. Its site calls it the to-do list that helps you form good habits, and the idea is simple: every day you complete a task, your streak grows.

From its App Store listing:

  • Up to 24 tasks, each with its own schedule. The site’s examples include “Monday to Friday,” “3 days per week” and “every Wednesday.”
  • Health app tasks that complete themselves, such as steps, distance, water, caffeine and workouts.
  • Negative tasks for breaking a habit, with a “2-Day Rule” that allows a miss.
  • Timed tasks, for things like meditation or brushing your teeth.
  • An Apple Watch app, complications, widgets, Siri Shortcuts and iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
  • Sharing: you can share tasks with other Streaks users so they can encourage you.
  • Polish: 78 color themes and 600+ icons. It’s an Apple Design Award winner.

It costs $5.99 once, with no in-app purchases listed, and Family Sharing covers up to six people.

Who is the Streaks app for?

It suits someone on iPhone who wants a tidy, pay-once list of daily habits, including some fitness ones, and finds a growing number motivating. If you like “don’t break the chain,” it’s one of the best-made versions of that idea.

Where does the Streaks app fall short?

We can’t report review complaints for the Streaks app: it wasn’t in our October 2026 sample of App Store reviews, and we won’t guess. What we can describe is how it’s designed, and what our wider research found about streaks in general.

From its own pages:

  • A miss resets the count. The site says it plainly: don’t break the chain, or your streak resets to zero days. Flexible schedules and the 2-Day Rule on negative tasks soften this, but a missed scheduled day still ends that streak.
  • Apple only. The site lists iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro, and says it’s for iOS. We found no Android version.
  • It tracks whether, not what. It can tell you that you worked out, but it doesn’t plan the workout, adjust it, or log food.

And from our wider research on fitness apps:

  • Losing a streak can be discouraging. Some Noom reviewers in our sample said “treat days” broke streaks the app had promised to keep, and the loss stung.
  • All-or-nothing rules feed the restart cycle. A popular r/loseit post describes the frustration of starting over again and again.
  • Daily targets can turn into guilt. In r/walking, one user wrote that the pressure to hit 10,000 steps every day became a source of guilt.
  • But people like rewards they choose. Ladder’s five-star reviewers often mention liking its streaks and badges. Streaks work for many people; strict ones just don’t suit everyone.

If you keep losing long streaks over one bad day, our guide on how to stay consistent with working out explains why forgiving systems tend to last longer.

What are the best Streaks app alternatives?

The right alternative depends on what you want: more forgiveness, more devices, a free option, or a coach.

Gentler Streak: workout streaks that count rest

Gentler Streak is built around the opposite of strict streaks. Its listing says you can keep your streak alive by following your body’s needs, even when that means rest days, and adjust your status when life happens. It won the 2024 Apple Design Award for Social Impact and was Apple Watch App of the Year in 2022.

Premium is $8.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with lifetime options listed from $59.99 to $179.99. Pick it if you want activity streaks that treat rest as part of the plan.

Apple’s Activity rings: free on Apple Watch

If you have an Apple Watch, the Activity rings are already there, with award streaks built in. Apple’s guide explains how to pause your rings for up to 90 days without breaking your award streak, and how to set a different goal for each day of the week.

Pick it if you want a free activity streak and don’t need other habits tracked.

Habitify: habits on more devices

Habitify tracks daily, weekly and custom-schedule habits with streaks, a progress calendar, mood tracking and reminders by time or location. It can log progress automatically from Apple Health, Google Health or Fit, Fitbit, Strava and Screen Time, and its listing covers iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and the web.

It has a free tier. Paid plans include Plus at $29.99 a year, Pro at $8.99 a month or $49.99 a year, and Pro Lifetime at $119.99. Pick it if you want more integrations than Streaks offers.

Loop Habit Tracker: free on Android

Loop Habit Tracker is a free, open-source Android app with no ads and no in-app purchases. It doesn’t need an account or an internet connection. Instead of a single fragile count, it gives each habit a strength score, and its developer says a few missed days after a long streak won’t wipe out your progress. It supports schedules like 3 times a week or every other day.

Pick it if you’re on Android or want a free tracker that forgives.

Coachh (ours): streaks inside a training and food plan

Coachh, the app we make, isn’t a general habit list. It keeps a separate streak for each area it coaches, right alongside the plan itself. Every 7 days in a row earns a streak save, up to two banked, which covers a missed day. On a day with nothing else to do, holding “show up” keeps the streak alive. Each area has its own streak, and badges are never taken back.

When you miss a session, it’s picked up the next day, but only one is made up and rest days stay rest days. It’s $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on yearly.

Looking for a Streaks app alternative on Android?

The Streaks app is made for Apple devices, and we found no Android version. Of the options above, Loop Habit Tracker is the verified Android choice: free, open source and ad-free. Habitify’s listing also mentions a web version, though we didn’t confirm an Android app. Coachh comes to Android in November 2026 with the same features as the iPhone app.

How do the Streaks app alternatives compare?

App What a miss does Fitness plan Android Price (US, Oct 5, 2026)
Streaks Resets that task to zero (2-Day Rule on negative tasks) No Not found $5.99 once
Gentler Streak Rest days can keep the streak alive Daily workout suggestions Not stated $8.99/mo, $39.99/yr; lifetime $59.99–$179.99
Apple Activity rings Pause up to 90 days without breaking the award streak No No (Apple Watch) Free with Apple Watch
Habitify Not stated No Not stated Free tier; $29.99–$49.99/yr; $119.99 lifetime
Loop Habit Tracker A few misses don’t wipe out a strong habit score No Yes Free
Coachh (ours) Saves earned every 7 days cover a miss Yes, with food and walking November 2026 $19.99/mo or $119.99/yr

“Not stated” means we couldn’t confirm it on the company’s own pages, not that the feature is missing.

Which Streaks app alternative should you pick?

  • You want workout streaks that respect rest days: Gentler Streak.
  • You only care about moving every day and own an Apple Watch: the built-in Activity rings, free.
  • You want habits synced with many apps and devices: Habitify.
  • You want a free tracker that forgives: Loop Habit Tracker.
  • You want the streak and the plan in one place, so a missed day changes tomorrow’s workout instead of just breaking a number: Coachh. If walking is your main habit, our walking for fitness guide shows a step goal that starts where you are.

When is the Streaks app the better choice?

Stick with the Streaks app, rather than Coachh or the others above, if:

  • Your habits go well beyond fitness. Its own examples include walking the dog, flossing, practicing Spanish and calling your parents.
  • You want to pay once. It’s $5.99 with no subscription, and Family Sharing covers up to six people.
  • A strict chain motivates you. If the reset to zero is what gets you out the door, that’s the design working.
  • You want negative and timed tasks. Breaking a habit with the 2-Day Rule, or timing meditation, is built in.
  • You don’t want a coach. If you just want to tick things off, a plan you didn’t ask for is noise.

How does Coachh compare with the Streaks app?

Coachh, the app we make, costs far more than the Streaks app, so it’s only worth it if you want the coaching too. The difference is what happens around the streak: Coachh plans each day’s workout, logs your meals, sets a step goal near what you already walk, and eases you back in after time off. After two missed sessions in a row, you get one friendly check-in that never counts what you missed and offers a 15-minute version.

The honest limits: it’s a fitness coach, so if most of your habits have nothing to do with training or food, a dedicated habit app is the better tool. There’s no free tier (the yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial), and it has no community or group features. It launches on iPhone and Apple Watch on October 27, 2026, with Android in November.

The bottom line

The Streaks app is a beautifully made, low-cost habit tracker, and if a strict chain motivates you, keep it. If one missed day keeps ending your run, try something more forgiving: Gentler Streak, Apple’s pausable rings, Loop, or a coach like Coachh that treats a slip as part of the plan. Common questions

Is there a free Streaks app alternative?

Yes. Loop Habit Tracker is free and open source on Android, Apple’s Activity rings are free on Apple Watch, and Habitify has a free tier. The Streaks app itself is a one-time $5.99 purchase rather than a subscription.

Is the Streaks app worth it?

For most iPhone users who want a simple habit list, $5.99 once is good value, and the app is an Apple Design Award winner. It’s less of a fit if you want forgiving streaks, an Android version, or a workout plan.

Is the Streaks app available on Android?

We found no Android version. The developer’s site describes it as for iOS and lists iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro.

What happens if I miss a day in the Streaks app?

The developer’s site says that if you break the chain, your streak resets to zero days. You can schedule tasks for certain days or a number of days per week, and negative tasks have a 2-Day Rule that allows a miss.

Streaks app vs Gentler Streak: which is better for workouts?

The Streaks app is a general habit list that can tick off workouts from the Health app. Gentler Streak is built for activity, suggests daily workouts and lets rest days keep your streak alive, but it’s a subscription ($39.99 a year) rather than $5.99 once.
