Why your watch workouts and coaching app disagree
Compare individual workout records before comparing weekly totals. Check the source, dates, permissions, account and last synchronization. A watch workout can contain duration without exercise details. Steps or Exercise ring minutes are separate measurements. Avoid manually logging a second session until you know whether the original will import.

Are both apps looking at the same records?
Start with one workout you can identify. Note its type, start time, end time and recording source. Compare that record with the workout list in the destination app. A weekly count alone does not tell you whether the problem is a missing import, a different date range or a different definition of training.
For example, a strength session ending near midnight can land on different calendar days if apps use different time zones. Choose a matching local date range, then inspect the actual timestamps. Also distinguish sessions recorded this week from sessions imported this week. An older workout arriving today still belongs to its original workout date.
Take a brief note of the discrepancy before making changes. “Watch shows three strength workouts; app lists two, missing Tuesday at 6 pm” is actionable. “Sync is broken” gives you fewer clues.
Does the source health app contain the workout?
On iPhone, first inspect the workout in Health or Fitness. Apple’s guide to managing Health data explains how to inspect data sources and control which apps can access information. A record that exists only inside another app may not have been written to Health.
On Android, open Health Connect and inspect the relevant app permissions and records. Google’s Health Connect getting-started guide covers connected applications and data access. Menu names can vary with Android version; do not assume a Pixel and an older phone present the same screens.
If the source record is missing, fix that recording or export path first. Repeatedly refreshing the coaching app cannot retrieve a record that is not available to it.
What do permissions actually prove?
Permission to write a workout is different from permission to read one. Check the relevant data types, not only whether two apps appear connected. A connection for steps does not prove that exercise sessions or weight measurements are shared.
On iPhone, an empty result cannot reliably tell an application whether you denied a Health read permission or simply have no readable records. The app should explain that limitation. You can inspect your own Health settings, while support should avoid declaring that your access was definitely denied.
Do not send screenshots containing unrelated health information to diagnose a single missing workout. The workout type, approximate time, source app and software version usually make a better initial report.
Why can synchronization arrive late?
Recording, exporting, reading and account persistence are separate operations. A notification that data changed does not prove every stage has finished. Open both relevant apps, keep the phone online and use the destination’s refresh action if it has one. Then check the individual session again.
A well-designed integration also reconciles corrections and deletions. Android’s synchronization documentation describes processing inserted, updated and deleted records rather than treating every update as a new workout. This is a developer contract, not a promise that every fitness app implements it correctly.
If you deleted a duplicate in Health, allow the receiving app to reconcile before judging its count. A cached history may briefly differ from the source.
Which numbers should stay separate?
A strength workout, a walking workout, daily steps and Exercise minutes answer different questions. A walk contributes movement; it does not establish that you completed a resistance-training session. Ring completion alone does not supply a new workout record.
Similarly, a watch strength session may provide type, duration and heart-rate information without a list of exercises. It is valid to count that recorded session while leaving its sets and loads unknown. Do not fill in a planned leg workout merely because a generic strength recording happened on leg day.
When a coach needs muscle-group details to suggest tomorrow’s training, supply only what you know. “I trained push-ups and flys” is useful. Exact repetitions remain unknown unless you enter them.
How do you diagnose duplicate sessions safely?
Compare time overlap, duration and source identity. One Coachh recording and one watch recording can describe the same real session. Two workouts on the same day can also be distinct, so matching on the date alone is insufficient.
Before manually adding the missing workout, check whether it already appears under another type or source. If you must correct a record, keep a note of what changed. Avoid deleting your only original recording as a troubleshooting experiment.
What should you expect from Coachh today?
Coachh has optional Health import code, with expanded context controlled by a feature switch. This is not proof that your installed build has that switch enabled or that every imported session informs every coaching count. Real-device synchronization and reconciled training counts remain release acceptance items.
See supported Health integration and limits and Apple Watch logging. If you report a mismatch, include the date range, source and whether the app was recently refreshed. Keep health measurements and account credentials out of public feedback.
Common questions
Should I log the workout again immediately?
Check for an existing or pending import first. Relogging may create two records for one real session.
Does closing the Exercise ring mean a strength session was recorded?
No. Exercise minutes and a recorded strength workout are different information.
Can a watch workout reveal my exact sets?
Only if the source actually recorded those details. A generic strength session does not establish exercises, repetitions or loads.
